This Nutcracker is for students six to eighteen years old who are enrolled in Ballet at the studio. Auditions are held in September of the Nutcracker season with Saturday rehearsals running from September to December. This bi-annual Nutcracker is an outreach performance opportunity for local hospitals, shelters, and nursing homes. Past performance locations include:
- Boy’s and Girls’s Harbor House
- Rosemont Retirement Home
- MD Anderson Shriner Hospital
- Hope Village
- Colonial Oaks Assisted Living
The Legacy
This legacy was started by Shelly Power of Houston Ballet Academy in 1980 and has been continued by Amy Blake’s Academy of Dance since 1998 to serve the southeast region of Houston. Our Nutcracker is a 50 minute performance.
